Most of the writing here will likely be short or "Flashfic" pieces. Although, writers are also welcome to post long pieces. To help motivate people to write, we have a system of writing prompts. The writing prompts give some direction and perhaps rules. If you're interested in writing, please check some of the available prompts. They are listed on the left side of the page, near the top. From the prompt page, you can use the link there to add a piece based on that prompt. You will also see links to pieces that other writers have made based on that prompt. You can also add a piece that isn't based on a prompt. Use the "Add Piece" link on the left to do this. If you've written something previously and just want to post it here to get some feedback on it, that's cool. Writers have the power to control who has access to them. By default a piece can be seen by anyone. This also implies that the piece will be published on the site in the RSS feed and search engines will index it. But, a writer may also restrict access to members only. This keeps the piece out of the RSS feed and search engine indexing. Only people who sign-on will be able to see the piece. Finally, there is also a "private" option which restricts access to the author of the piece. You can also control who can edit your piece. By default, this is set to "private", meaning only the author of the piece can edit it. But, if you'd like to allow other members to edit your piece, you can change this to "members". If you'd like to read the pieces people have made, there is another section under the prompts which lists latest pieces. We encourage you to make comments under pieces. Writers love feedback. Please be respectful in what you say. Remember, our goal here is to encourage writers. Finally, if you'd like to add a writing prompt, please feel free. Thanks for your interest in Rict.us. | ||||
